Someone starts showing off pictures of their new car and suddenly you realize that you’re feeling rather antagonistic toward them. This is new car envy and it’s very common. The only real cure is getting a new car yourself.

Of course, striving to keep up with the Joneses and putting yourself into debt is never a good idea. However, if you find that you are in need of a new car to the extent that you’re coveting your friend’s vehicle, it might be time to upgrade your current ride.

Whatever you are driving right now has value. That value can be turned into an asset that will reduce your price for the new car that you really want.

Take some time to find out how much your current vehicle is worth as a trade in and investigate car dealerships in your area. Then take the leap and go find yourself a new vehicle to drive around. It can be a very liberating feeling to have a vehicle that is new to you, even if it’s not actually brand new.

Purchasing from a dealership is the best option even if you go with a used car. Look for a certified used car that will be under warranty, to get off to the best start.
